Since its inception Drama Committee Repertory Theatre has been a place for the actors, directors, writers and other craftspeople of the theatre to practice its art. DCRT has given to many of them a place to start and develop their career.
Drama Committee presents plays that have seldom or never been seen on stage, dramatizations of international prose classics, revivals of forgotten American theatre gems and new plays of the contemporary scene.
Drama Committee started in the early 70’s in a small local East Village theatre, becoming a prolific group on West 20th Street, presenting in repertory more than 200 plays and becoming one of the most talked about groups in town of that decade. However, the 80’s and the economic changes of those years made the company become inactive. The 90’s brought a new beginning, although the struggle to find a new niche has not been easy. Love and dare has maintained this group still fulfilling its mission on this new century.
